A general practitioner can exclude both a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the leg) and a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) by using a clinical decision rule and a blood test. This has been claimed by general practitioner and researcher Geert-Jan Geersing of the University Medical Center (UMC) Utrecht in his doctoral thesis. “This approach is safe, simple to use, cost-effective and patient-friendly.” Read more.
