About Utrecht Life Sciences

Utrecht Life Sciences is an open innovation network in the Netherlands, which unites Utrecht University, the University Medical Center Utrecht, government and business. Its goal is to intensify cooperation in the areas of education, research & innovation by providing state of the art shared infrastructures, scouting & educating talented people, creating access to scarce expertise and databases, and increasing access to external grants & funds for its partners. In doing so we aim to become a leading Biomedical Centre in Europe in the coming years.

 

Utrecht Life Sciences has a focus on highly relevant Life Sciences research areas in human and animal health: Public Health – One Health and Cancer, Regenerative Medicine & Stem Cells. Utrecht Life Sciences provides top level education of scientists and technicians at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD level. It has access to attractive and valuable cohorts of patients, both human and animal.

 

We offer excellent knowledge and expertise in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Physics and Mathematics from a total of 1,700 research FTE. The concentration and combination of these disciplines on one campus is unprecedented in Europe. Over 1,300 PhD students and > 2,000 BSc & MSc students participate in our Life Sciences talent programmes. Key assets include the central location at Utrecht Science Park in the Netherlands (within 30 min. of Schiphol Airport) and close proximity of partners.

 

Utrecht Life Sciences is an initiative by Utrecht University, the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and Danone Research Centre for Specialised Nutrition.

Associated partners include the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research, Genmab, GlaxoSmithKline, MSD Animal Health, The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, Immuno Valley, TNO Innovation for Life, Utrecht Holdings, Utrecht Valorisation Centre, Province of Utrecht, Municipality of Utrecht and > 20 SMEs.
